Meridian Speedway, LLC Orion Project

Foster Jones & Associates, Inc. served as Program Managers and Lead Design Engineers on a $300 million/4-year capital improvement project, a joint venture between the Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCS) and the Norfolk Southern (NS) Railroad.  This project increased the speed and capacity of the Class I rail line between Meridian, Mississippi and Shreveport, Louisiana, and included the construction of new mainline and siding tracks, bridge replacements, large-scale rail and tie replacement programs, reconfiguration of major interchanges, and various other capital improvements.

Ergon Refinery and Terminal Expansions

We have provided design services to Ergon on numerous capital improvement and maintenance projects at their various refining and terminal facilities. These projects include the construction of new tank farms, addition of process units, new truck and rail loading and unloading facilities, secondary containment evaluation and construction, utility design, and other supporting infrastructure such as roadways and drainage systems.

CF Industries Rail Infrastructure Expansion

We provided survey, design and construction management services for a $9 million rail infrastructure expansion which included approximately 14,000 feet of new track, various utility relocations and mitigations, high mast lighting, security fencing, a new signalized at-grade crossing, and a new connection with the Canadian National (CN) Railroad.

Valero-Diamond Green Diesel Facility

We designed industrial spur tracks for Richard Design Services, the design/build contractor for the Valero - Diamond Green Diesel Project in Norco, Louisiana.  We also designed an additional rail expansion supporting this facility in 2016.

High Oak Siding Extension

We provided complete design and construction management services for the upgrade and extension of an existing KCS mainline and siding track in Rankin County, Mississippi.  This project consisted of the construction of two new bridges, crash walls protecting piers of an existing overhead interstate bridge, 5,900 feet of new roadbed, approximately 8,000 feet of new track, a universal crossover, and relaying approximately 13,000 feet of rail.

Siding Tracks

Over the last 30 years, we have designed and managed the construction of many new KCS siding tracks located along their primary east-west corridor running between Shreveport, Louisiana and Meridian, Mississippi.  Each of these sidings were at least 8500 feet in length and many included new bridges and large drainage structures.

Yard Expansion Projects

Our expansion projects within KCS rail yards include the design and project management of the addition of classification tracks, receiving and departure (R&D) tracks, expansion of an existing intermodal facility, and a new Repair-in-Place (RIP) Facility.

CF Industries Ammonia Tank

We completed the site design and construction plans for a 160 foot diameter ammonia storage tank.  This design had many challenges including elevations varying nearly 50 feet from the lowest to highest point, limited space, and maintaining spill containment of an adjacent tank.

Koch Foods, Loop Track and Feed Mill

We developed construction plans and provided complete project management services for the Koch – Morton Feed Mill Project.  This project consisted of 17,000 feet of new track, 6,400 feet of access roads, a new feed mill site and associated utilities.

Meridian Southern Railway Improvement

We served as Design Engineers and Construction Managers for this project which included the rehabilitation of the Meridian Southern Railway mainline track and bridges between Waynesboro and Meridian. This $2 million project was administered by the Mississippi Development Authority and was funded by the Mississippi Legislature.

Farmer’s Grain-Greenville Dock Expansion

We provided site design and construction plans for the addition of a new barge loading facility, truck unloading pit and truck scale for a grain handling facility in Greenville, Mississippi.  This design incorporated an immediate need of the facility as well as long-range planning for future upgrades and additions.
